Evidence mounts that 2021 will be a year Google takes on Apple’s Bionic processors

For over a year, it’s been rumored that Google was operative on a tradition smartphone chip with Samsung, and last month news flush that it would land in an arriving Pixel phone, reputed to be a Pixel 6. Another tiny tidbit has flush recently that serve corroborates Whitechapel-powered hardware is underneath growth and tied to arriving Google hardware.

The folks during XDA Developers speckled a comment in an AOSP commit contention that publicly points to a Whitechapel name as partial of a URL in a context of a “P21” device, together with a GS101 label, also formerly tied to during slightest this initial Whitechapel chip.

While there’s zero new per se from today’s development, and no new information per possibly an arriving phone or Whitechapel has been suggested by a AOSP disclosure, it does publicly uphold that Google has near-future skeleton for a long-awaited tradition silicon, that 9to5Google claims to have reliable will occur with phones expelled this fall, that we all design means a Pixel 6.

While we wait for Whitechapel to indeed manifest in something, we sat down with a handful of analysts final month for a review on what it competence meant and what to design from Google’s initial chip. In short, we’ve still got some questions that usually time and Google can answer.
